Our new blog is a forum for members to discuss issues affecting the sector and the practice of philanthropy.Philanthropy New York’s latest diversity project is an initiative created in partnership with The Foundation Center and the Diversity in Philanthropy Project which, in part, mirrors research projects currently underway in California and other regions.
The first stage of the Project has culminated in a report, Benchmarking Diversity: A First Look at New York City Foundations and Nonprofits, which represents a first step in establishing an accurate picture of the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors in the New York metropolitan area. Several upcoming Philanthropy New York programs will address the specific issues raised by the diversity report and explore related topics.
As an organization, Philanthropy New York will continue to look at the issues connected to diversity in philanthropy and provide a forum for meaningful discussion. We look forward to helping our member organizations, and the philanthropic sector as a whole, maximize the scope and the effectiveness of their work.
