Reading proficiency by third grade is the most important predictor of high school graduation and career success. Yet every year, more than 80 percent of low-income children miss this crucial milestone. As part of the Grantmakers Forum exploration of what funders are doing to help New York State reform its public education system and achieve the goals set by the Race to the Top, join our guests to discuss how the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is tackling school readiness, chronic absence, and summer learning loss; and how funders are helping communities in our region form networks to achieve literacy goals for our children.
