A Philanthropy New York collaborative program with Environmental Grantmakers Association and Global Greengrants Fund, in its ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES Series.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Trustees, CEOs, program officers and grantmakers interested in enviornmental issues and climate change.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

On December 7th through the 18th, at the Copenhagen UN Climate Change Conference 2009, world leaders discussed their responses to the climate emergency facing the planet. 

15,000 participants from governments, the business community, NGOs, philanthropy, and civil society attended.  We invite you to join us in a panel discussion to hear from philanthropic colleagues about the outcomes from the conference and what the immediate opportunities are in environmental grantmaking. Some questions that will be discussed include:

  • Who will be most impacted by the next climate treaty framework?
  • What is at stake in terms of economic benefit, human rights, and environmental protection?
  • How can we promote rapid, effective, and coordinated action among governments, NGOs, and civil society organizations?
